A list of intriguing things
One: Airbnb recently rolled out a line of themed rentals called Icons—which promise “extraordinary experiences” in partnership with brands or celebs. Example: Barbie’s Malibu DreamHouse, Shrek’s Swamp or hanging with Christina Aguilera at her Las Vegas mansion. The company may have outdone itself with its latest offering: a replica of the floating house from ‘Up’. The residence—plus 8,000 balloons—will be set afloat in the New Mexico desert. Yes, electricity and running paani is included.
Other Icon experiences include Prince’s home in ‘Purple Rain’, the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and—drum roll, please—Janhvi Kapoor’s home at her “coastal oasis in Chennai”—where you can “live like a Bollywood star.” Coastal oasis? Really? Here’s the really important bit about Icon experiences: They are 100% free. You just have to sign up online to enter the lottery. Watch the promo vid below. (New York Times, paywall, CNN)
Two: Remember when your parents rolled their eyes at your ripped or ‘distressed’ jeans? We suggest sending them a link to the fabulous $600 ‘Stain Stonewash’ variety from Jordanluca. That’s a polite name for jeans with a massive stain on the crotch—so it looks like you peed your pants….because that is such a good look!
In fact, a lighter hue of the pants has already sold out. This one just looks like a laundry fail lol! (Complex)
Three: Forget wearable fans! The scorching pace of climate change demands more extreme measures—like Sony’s new wearable air conditioner—called the Reon Pocket 5. This baby is way more fancy:
The Reon Pocket 5 isn’t a simple fan. It incorporates a thermo-electric module and a suite of sensors to create a microclimate around your core. These sensors monitor your body temperature, humidity, and even movement to determine your comfort. The device offers five cooling levels for hot days and four heating levels for cooler situations.
The best bit: It’s way less bulky (and ugly) than those fans that look like oversized dog collars. You can wear this one on your neck or tuck it into a shirt pocket. At $170, Reon Pocket isn’t cheap—but it isn’t entirely unaffordable either. (Interesting Engineering)
