Wanted: Good grooming for guys
Editor’s Note: Our Buy section is your trusty instalment of recommendations for useful and delightful things. This community-sourced list—which we publish once a month—is designed to save you from unreliable online reviews and glorified Insta ads. You can count instead on the collective wisdom of our wise and experienced subscribers:)
This month, we put out a call-out for grooming products for men. We have so much gyaan for the ladies, but far less product advice for men. For some reason, we didn’t get a lot of recommendations this time around—as one person put it: “It doesn’t matter as long as you wear some deodorant” :) Happily, the few picks we did receive were very useful–as you can see below.

One for the beard
Philips Beard Trimmer: Do you like your facial hair to be all-gone or well-manicured? Or how about a classic designer stubble? Two of our subscribers, Jason and Hariharasudhan, recommend the perfect tool to take care of your beard trimming needs. Jason says it’s the “easiest to use” and Hariharasudhan appreciates the “long lasting battery”. (Price: Rs 1555)
Bearhood Beard Wax: Sandesh offers this fix for scruffy beards—which promises superior hold and an array of intriguing ingredients—including essential oils pine sap and avocado oil. (Price: Rs 310)
The Man Company Beard Wash: Since your beard can also get dirty—like the hair on your head—Anurag Tagat says a beard-specific shampoo for maintenance and nourishment. (Price: Rs 350)
Smelling good: Deodorants and fragrances
Dior: With Hollywood hotties like Robert Pattinson, Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp representing Dior’s perfumes, no wonder our subscribers chose to recommend the brand. We get it. Hariharasudhan and Chaitanya Kapadia like to use Dior’s Deodorant Stick and Dior Sauvage for their daily use. (Price: Rs 3600)
Maroma Perfumes: Sourabh suggests Maroma if you prefer natural scents like patchouli, cedar or vetiver: “The unique smells make them different from classical perfumes”. (Price: 950)
Homme Day Deo Roll: But if you’re looking for something pleasant and mild, Magandeep Singh suggests using this roll-on for its long-lasting effects. (Price: 3496)
Nike Up and Down: For something on a budget, this has been Rohan’s favourite for over a decade: “It has got a refreshing smell and is also long lasting”. (Price: Rs 575)
Nailing that haircare routine
L’Oreal Mythic Oil: We’ll be honest, when we hear oil, it reminds us of grandma slathering grease all over our head. But Sourabh insists this one is “non greasy, light, makes your hair manageable and gives it a well groomed look”. (Price: 1150)
PHY Hair Shampoo: With the goodness of apple cider vinegar, this is the best shampoo out there for Sandesh who says: “The quality is great. Nothing comes close for men’s shampoo”. (Price: Rs 404)
What’s your skincare routine…
Kiehl’s Age Defender Moisturizer: Hydration, hydration, hydration… Ruchika recommends Kiehl’s entire range for me—especially this moisturiser because this “one product does the job of 2-3 others, and men love that”. Lol! (Rs 4000)
Bulldog Moisturizer: With a name like that how can you resist? Lahar has been using this for years and says it’s “non-greasy and very effective”. But he suggests asking a friend from US/Europe to buy it for you at a far cheaper price. (Price: 1295)
Bombay Shaving Company’s Face Care Kit: Sandesh recommends an entire suite of products from the Bombay Shaving Company—which he uses for his personal skin care routine. (Price: 499)
