The winners of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year are always stunning—and this year is no exception. While they include magnificent images of whales and bears, we were most moved by this image of mountain gorilla, Ndakasi dying peacefully in the arms of her rescuer and caregiver of 13 years, ranger Andre Bauma. She had been rescued as a two-month-old after her troop was killed by a charcoal mafia. The Guardian has a collection of the other winning entries—including a brilliant photo of a snow leopard captured by Anand Nambiar.
