Women artists from South Asia and Middle East are reinventing the Mughal miniature. For example: Hayv Kahraman’s ‘Back Bend 2’—which is an example of “her radiant depictions of female perseverance through the impossibly contorted bodies, hazy facial expressions, and a sense of tranquillity.” We love the fact that it forces us to look at it again and again to figure out exactly what we’re looking at.
