A list of intriguing things
One: CR China recruited an unusual cover model for its latest issue: A digitally altered Marilyn Monroe reimagining her in today’s fashion—using cutting-edge CGI tools. Of course, she looks as stunning as ever. See the other images over at CR China.
Two: The video below showcases the design for Sky Cruise—a hotel in the sky with 5,000 guests that can stay afloat for years at a time! It would be powered by a “small nuclear reactor” that “uses highly-controlled fusion reaction”—and be piloted by AI. How would you get there? On an ordinary plane, of course. Yeah, this is strictly at the conceptual (read: daydreaming) stage—but still pretty cool to behold. (Independent UK)
Three: Not a concept, and just as awesome: This auto-rickshaw with a mini-garden on top to keep its occupants cool. Owner Mahendra Kumar has also installed two mini coolers and fans inside: “It is now like a natural AC. My passengers are so happy after the ride that they don't mind paying me an extra Rs 10 or Rs 20.” FYI: the plants include tomatoes, lettuce, millets and more. (Hindustan Times)
Four: The hottest boozy trend in London is… vegetable martinis. No, this isn’t your lowly bloody mary. The fancy tomatini is made with “squeezed ripe tomatoes with vodka, mixed with white balsamic vinegar and a pinch of salt and pepper”—while other variations even use avocado, mushrooms or “home-made fermented grass” (hain?). Londonist has a handy guide to where to get your veggies—with a twist. (Bloomberg News)
