Welcome to Tried & Tested, Souk’s very own product-testing lab. Here’s how it works: We pick a product that all of us need in our lives, order a bunch of options, put them to work, and tell you exactly what held up and what didn’t. Simple as that.
For our second edition, we’ve taken on water bottles.
We tested around twenty water bottles, for roughly fifteen days, across brands, sizes, and styles. We carried them to work, tossed them into bags, left them in the car, and used them through long days, keeping the following non-negotiables in mind:
-
Leak-proof: Can it survive being thrown into a bag without drama?
-
Temperature retention: Does hot stay hot and cold stay cold, and for how long?
-
Ease of cleaning: Can you wash it properly without needing a toolkit?
-
Ease of carrying: Does it fit into your life (and your bag) without being a hassle?
-
Build & durability: Can it handle daily wear without denting, chipping, or falling apart?
Good looks were a bonus, but not enough to make up for bad performance.
After all that testing, we have categorised these water bottles across nine categories based on how you intend to use your bottle. And as always, we asked the only question that really matters: is it paisa vasool?
01 For infused water addicts
Lightweight, practical, and with time, indispensable. What makes it stand out is the built-in infuser; great for lemon, mint, or cucumber water, without dealing with stray bits while drinking.
It works best for cold infusions, not hot tea, so think of it as an everyday desk bottle. The lock held up well with no leaks, and the silicone loop makes it easy to carry. Only thing to note: the fixed strainer needs a bit more attention while cleaning, but nothing annoying.
Price: Rs 999
02 Our pick for hydration on the go
This bottle stands out right away for its look—especially the cute colour options, which drew attention when we took it along to a local café. But the real highlight is the handle: simple yet incredibly practical. Hooked onto a bag, it’s so unobtrusive you might forget you’re carrying it. It feels sturdy and avoids the usual hassle of lugging a bottle around.
The lock mechanism is reliable, with no leaks, and the covered sipper with push-open design makes it easy to use on the go. It keeps water cold impressively well (better than it holds heat), and stays completely sweat-proof—no condensation or damp spots in your bag. Overall, it’s a thoughtfully designed bottle that’s ideal for busy, on-the-move days.
Price: Rs 1299
03 Our pick for the gym
This one’s deceptive in a good way. It looks compact, but holds a full litre, which makes it great for the gym. You get enough water for a full workout without carrying something bulky.
The broad handle makes it easy to carry between sets, and it never felt too heavy. It kept water cold through long sessions, and despite looking slightly thin, held up well to knocks. Cleaning is straightforward thanks to the wider build. A solid pick if you want capacity without the usual bulk.
Price: Rs 4999
