The Sony World Photography Awards announced its finalists—and all the contenders are stunning. They evoke a variety of emotions—from sadness to wonder. Given that the world is in the midst of a war, we chose a bit of brightness: a city portrait by René Cassio Scholz—who creates a collage that combines “impressions, discoveries and events” of a place into one lovely picture.
