That’s what Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra tweeted in response to an FIR filed in Madhya Pradesh for “outraging religious feelings.” The alleged crime: At an India Today conclave, Moitra had responded to a row over a movie poster for ‘Kaali’—which shows the goddess holding a cigarette in one hand and an LGBTQ flag in another. Moitra spoke of her personal conception: “Kali to me is meat eating... Alcohol accepting Goddess. To me, that is a version of Kali.” Her own party has distanced itself from Moitra’s remarks, but she remains defiant. Meanwhile, in Canada, the Aga Khan Foundation has cancelled plans to launch the film—on the request of the Indian High Commission. Indian Express offers a brief profile of Moitra if you’re curious about her.
