The Chennai Photo Biennale Awards spotlight the “most impactful photos with meaningful stories” from across the country. This year, they received a whopping 9,700 entries from over 300 cities. Of the 10 winners, our fave is this photograph of a newly-wed couple during the Masi Magam festival in Mahabalipuram—taken by Akilan Thyagarajan. Ninety women photographers from across the world paid tribute to primatologist Jane Goodall on her 90th birthday–with 90 prints of gorgeous images. The proceeds go towards preservation. We have many favourites—but the most unusual among them is this one titled ‘The Hug’—of two polar bears.
