A list of intriguing things
One: South Korean artist Dain Yoon uses her face as a canvas—creating dazzling optical illusions. Her surreal self-portraits went viral—and has since graced Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. What makes her skill exceptional: “Yoon says she never manipulates her images in post-production. It’s just her, a mirror, a camera and body paint, for between three and 12 hours per shoot.” As you can see from the lead image, her work can be exceptional—or disturbing, like this 2023 piece titled ‘Sleepless Night’.
Our personal favourite is this one titled ‘View from my studio’:
There’s lots more on her Insta—and you can check out a recent CNN profile, as well.
Two: Last week, we introduced you to the overpriced Prada water bottle. Turns out it is part of a bigger trend—with a gag-inducing label: ‘premium hydration’. The latest example of this madness is the V-Day Stanley Tumbler. The special edition collab between Stanley and Starbucks has triggered mass hysteria across the US:
It caused tumult at multiple Target stores across the country. There has been a steady stream of social-media videos showing customers nearly coming to blows or otherwise overrunning the store to obtain their own 40-ounce pink or red water tumbler. Some are even camping — camping! — outside Target to make sure they can get their hands on one.
Ah, but it gets even kookier. You can now dress up your paani tumbler with its very own accessories—as demonstrated in this excellent vid below. Complex offers a full-on explainer of this trend.
Three: Blackberry is never, ever making a comeback. But for folks who miss the keyboard, we now have a keyboard case from Clicks. It costs $139 and straps on to your iPhone—adding length and convenience:
So yeah, it makes your iPhone even longer than it usually is, but what you get in exchange is even more screen real estate when you’re typing out a long email or crafting a full document directly from your phone. It even comes with keyboard shortcuts, such as CMD + H to return to the home screen or CMD + Space for Search.
We’re loving it in Bumblebee—but you can also opt for the more boring London Sky. The gif below gives you a sense of what it looks like—and there’s a more detailed YouTube vid from the creator, as well. (Gizmodo)
