A list of intriguing things
One: If the AI Insta influencers are here, can beauty queens be far behind? Get ready for the first-ever ‘Miss AI’ pageant—whose winner goes home with a prize of $20,000. Judges assess the entries on the looks and Insta clout of the contestants—and tech skills of their creators.
Happy news for Indians: Hamaari Zara Shatavari is one of the top ten models in the final round. Over at her Insta profile, she can be found “hopping on a yoga ball, basking in a tropical spa, and celebrating Diwali in a traditional red saree amidst festive candles and clay lamps.” Zara is apparently a “blend of advanced technology and cultural authenticity”—which looks something like this:
To be fair, she looks like every Bolly starlet ever! We personally are rooting for the Brazilian entry Ailya Lou—whose lip-syncing skillz are excellent. (CNN)
Two: Bogotá is home to a roaring educational success—a school for dads called the Care School for Men. Courses include diaper changing, braiding hair, and basic household chores. The school was born during the pandemic—when men had to cope in the absence or illness of their female partners. Around 7,300 men have attended in-person classes—and another 50,000 men completed the online version. FYI: there are eight such programmes in 12 other countries in the world. Sadly, India isn’t one of them. But hey, desi men can watch the online vids for handy tips—like this ponytail tutorial below. (NPR)
Three: There was a time when a girl had to choose: heels or sneakers? Thanks to Balenciaga, the answer is ‘both’! The monstrous Platform Sneaker has a six-inch heel and is inspired by the “verticality of Shanghai’s skyline” 🙄:
The same collection also boasts the Giant Boot (literally)—which has a hole in its heel. It’s truly the stuff of nightmares. (GQ)
