Every year, the Royal Observatory Greenwich awards the Astronomy Photographer of the Year. Here’s one of the dazzling finalists. FYI: this is a star trail photo taken above a World War I memorial in France. It is “a long-exposure image that shows the apparent motion of the stars across the night sky, producing a pattern of light trails stretching across the image.” The competition received 4,000 entries from astrophotographers across 64 countries. You can see a lovely collection on the award website or MyModernMet.
