Capture the Atlas revealed the winners of the Milky Way Photographer of the Year awards—which honours the best images of our corner of the universe. The above is a photo of a dazzling ‘airglow’—taken in New Zealand. That’s when “atoms get charged and excited in the upper atmosphere by the sun” and emit these gorgeous colours and patterns.
