So you wanna watch something…
Editor’s note: We would love to wholeheartedly recommend something that rolls out this weekend… but they all feel a little clichéd.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window: Have you survived the insanely long title of this Netflix offering. It is intended to be a send up of every thriller you have ever loved of a screwed-up woman who witnesses something awry—and magically turns into a heroine. To be fair, no one is very fond of it—not Variety or Hollywood Reporter or even Entertainment Weekly. But it seems to be perfect for those who love this particular genre. Drops today on Netflix.
All of Us Are Dead: Can you not get enough South Korean chills? Well, this thriller is a perfect watch if that’s your thing. This one is set in a South Korean high school—and is all about students who turn into blood-lusting zombies. The 12-part series is very violent and not exactly a relaxing watch. South China Morning Post says that it loses its propulsive start to endless episodes in a 12-part series that “become mired in a repetitive pattern.” Then again, critics may not love familiarity but it is often the staple of the biggest hits. Streaming now on Netflix.
Home Team: This is loosely based on the former NFL coach Sean Payton who was suspended during ‘Bountygate’—for overseeing his team paying bonuses for injuring other teams’ players. But ofc, Hollywood turns this into a perfect father-son bonding saga when he decides to coach his teenage son’s high school team. Premieres today on Netflix.
