A list of intriguing things
One: A nearly 6-foot tall bottle of Scotch whiskey—the largest in the world—sold for $1.375 million at auction last week. It contains 444 standard bottles, or 68.41 gallons, worth of whiskey—and even has a name: Intrepid. (CBS News)
Two: Sticking with the boozy theme, a Singapore brewery is selling beer made out of recycled and filtered water from sewage. NewBrew is a “tropical blond ale”—with fancy ingredients like Norwegian yeast and German barley… and, of course, recycled pee. And according to this BBC News report, it also tastes good. FYI: The aim of the beer is to raise awareness of the nation’s severe water shortage.
Three: A man in Japan spent $21,600 on an astonishingly realistic costume so he can look like a collie—and fulfil his “dream of becoming an animal!” Below is the video he tweeted out to share his achievement. Well… at least it’s a very cute dog. (Mothership)
Four: This year, Burger King’s Mother’s Day celebration involved whipping up the most appalling creations. Think Whoppers with bratwurst sausage and chocolate syrup, or the currywurst and fried herring. It was intended as a send-up of bizarre food cravings of pregnant women. What’s hilarious is that they were inspired by suggestions from real-life to-be-moms. See the ad below (German w/ subtitles).
