A long-ish list of curious facts
One: Back in September, a 90-year-old Tibetan woman in Bangalore stopped breathing but did not die for over a week—and instead entered a state known as ‘thukdam’. Mint Lounge has this amazing story.
Two: A European satellite has spotted this unbelievable angelic figure—complete with wings, halo, and heart—on Mars’ south pole.
Three: Florida wildlife authorities plan to encourage residents to eat more… python! Yup, that’s right. The reason: This Burmese variety is a highly invasive species, they need to get their numbers down. And their leading female python hunter even has recipes: “First, she uses a pressure cooker to make the meat soft and tender. Later, she adds pasta sauce, chili or stir fry. She also likes turning the snakes into jerky."
Four: Bloomberg actually has a year-end list of worst luxury cars. Ok it’s a short list of three. But the winner of ‘most overhyped’: the $274,500 Porsche 911 Speedster. Wait, don’t looks count for anything these days?
Five: Sri Lanka has a two-day annual TukTuk Tournament (we call them autos) with 100 teams. It looks like this. Watch the longer vid here.
Six: Yeah, every culture has its own version of the Christmas nativity scene. But only Catalonians include a pooping doll in theirs. This one is Barack Obama. You can see other variations on the theme (including the Pope) here.
