Kanako Abe is known for a Japanese artform called Kirie—”intricate compositions of flora and fauna carved from single sheets of paper.” The scenes are drawn from the Japanese folklore of Nush—portraying wild spirit animals inhabiting mountains and forests. We appreciated the way the image above seems to flip the relationship between ‘red riding hood’ and the wolf.
