National Geographic just announced the winners of its first annual “Pictures of the Year” contest—created for aspiring photographers to showcase their skills in four categories: nature, people, places, and animals. This was the grand prize winner—taken by Karthik Subramaniam near the shore of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve in Alaska. It is titled ‘Dance of the Eagles’ in homage to George R.R.
