The Nature Conservancy awards are aimed at supporting global conservation efforts—by evoking an “emotional connection” with nature. This year’s winners were chosen from 12 categories. The grand prize winner: Hungarian photographer Tibor Litauszki for an underwater image of an alpine newt feeding on frog eggs. Our personal favourite: this image of a sea wave charging the shore during a fierce storm—taken by Giovanni Allievi—which is as beautiful as the iconic paintings of Japanese master Katsushika Hokusai (which, btw, inspired this lovely Debussy composition called La Mer). See the rest of the winners over at the awards website.
