A list of intriguing things
One: So scientists let this Mini Cheetah robot figure out how to walk by itself—not with coding but as you might with a baby: “This technique is known as reinforcement learning. Think of it like dangling a toy in front of a baby to encourage it to crawl, only here the researchers simulated 4,000 versions of the robot and encouraged them to first learn to walk, then to run in multiple directions.” Umm, this is the result. Effective though not exactly attractive. (Wired)
Two: The very popular @ai_curio_bot uses two neural networks to create pieces of art. You can even send it text requests to see what it comes up with in response. This one is called ‘The starry morning by Vincent Van Gogh’—to which we say, thank god, humans are still better at something! To be fair, we were quite impressed with this Shrek poster. (Futurism)
Three: Did you know that you can “print” your cocktails now? Print a Drink is a 3D tech where a robot injects drops of a liquid using natural ingredients into your drink—to create 3D structures that are seriously cool. Watch how it works below:
Four: Speaking of drinks, all junk food brands are constantly in search of the next gimmick—likely so you forget how bad they are for your body. The latest stunt from Pepsi: maple syrup cola—an unfortunate collaboration with America’s fave chain diner IHOP. Even the ad is horrifying… (Ad Age)
