A list of intriguing things
One: A Japanese company decided to “brighten the world on the business front” with a novel line of business cards. And it is specially designed for a masked-up pandemic-ridden world. The ‘smile business card’ is printed with the lower half of the person’s face so you can hold it out just so:
Two: Meet Cleo the Mesmer robot who can do a lot of really cool things—including singing like Celine Dion!
Three: Japanese artist Monami Ohno makes brilliant, intricate sculptures using just cardboard, water and glue. Reuters has more on Ohno’s art. Check out a gallery of images, or a collection in this video.
Four: At some point, the 360-year-old painting ‘Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window’ by Johannes Vermeer got a bit of a ‘makeover’. Experts figured out that the blank wall in the painting wasn’t exactly blank. Someone genius had covered up another painting inside the painting—as you can see in the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures below. Big Think has more on this marvelous restoration.
