A list of intriguing things
One: Forget the oh-so-edgy ‘wolf cuts’. Tik Tok hair trends aren’t a patch on the 18th century ‘hedgehog’ aka ‘the herrison’—a three-tier do created for Marie Antoinette, no less:
“Curls upon curls were piled on top of each other in tiers; some curls were left to fall freely against the back of the neck. To keep the entire structure from falling, an abundance of hairpins were needed. Finally, the locks could be powdered (however, this was not a must) and a ribbon would be tied around the entire concoction.”
Also, it looks like this:
Two: This is the ‘A Map of the Open Country of Woman’s Heart’ created in the 19th century—laid right next to ‘The Fortified Country of Man’s Heart’. The female topography is totally eye-roll worthy:
“The Land of Love of Display is washed by the Sea of Wealth and contains the towns of Belles-maisons and Mavoiture (fancy houses and carriages?), a Bay of Establishment, a Jewelry Inlet, an Opal Isle, and a Promontory of Golden Fetters. We did not fail to notice Old Man’s Darling Bay (sugardaddyism has some pedigree).”
But the men’s version is far worse:
“The Lands of Better Judgment and Love of Ease both border a region where Irresolution reigns, feeding the Frozen Lakes of Indifference via the Trop de Trouble river. In the south, a Cigar Grove leads to a Morass of Indolence. Silence and Reflection are walled off from the outside world by a Wall of dread of a woman’s tongue.”

Three: Changing the subject entirely, artistic dogs have been a big thing lately thanks to a very talented Australian Shepherd that painted a very pretty flower. But Secret is just the latest in a line of Van Gogh-esque geniuses. The biggest among them is Hunter the Shiba Inu who (admittedly leans toward the abstract)—who has sold more than 250 of his paintings around the world!
Four: Speaking of animals, did you know that a sea eagle named Kodiak has been running wild in Pittsburgh after escaping from the local aviary? He has been spotted in all sorts of places—including in the middle of traffic:
Five: No, we’re not done yet. Meanwhile, Maryland is dealing with five zebras who are roaming free after having escaped from a private farm—whose owner has a permit to own 39 zebras! FYI: They have been AWOL for a month, and most experts think they’ll survive in the wilds of the East Coast just fine! DCist has this very odd story.
