They didn’t say anything in particular. All that they shared was that they have information from SSP CID or some such officer of Kashmir to stop me. I asked them if there was anything against me, but they said there was no FIR or any such thing and there were neither any grounds for detention.

That’s what Kashmiri photojournalist Sana Irshad Mattoo said about her experience at Delhi airport—where she was stopped by immigration officials from boarding a flight to Paris. She was leaving to attend a book launch and exhibition—and secured her boarding pass—but then detained for hours without explanation. FYI: Mattoo was among a team of Reuters journalists who won the 2022 Pulitzer for feature photography for their coverage of the second wave of Covid in India.
