Our patient could die at any moment.

That’s the doctor of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who is on the third week of a hunger strike at a penal colony in Russia. Navalny was arrested in January when he returned to Russia after recovering from a Kremlin-sponsored assassination attempt—which involved poisoning him with a nerve agent. He is President Putin’s most visible and unrelenting critic. His death has the potential to become a serious catalyst for widespread protests.
