Dive In

Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated. Twitter has tremendous potential—I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.

That’s what Elon Musk said after Twitter announced it has accepted his $44 billion offer to buy the company. The company board called it the “the best path forward for Twitter's stockholders.” The deal will take the company private—and off the stock market—giving Musk the control he seeks to make big changes. The deal still has to be approved by shareholders and regulators—and won’t go through until later this year. New York Times has more on the mood inside the company. For more context: Read our Big Story on Musk’s play for Twitter.
